You play an alchemist in 1555, in an investigation drawn from real events. Josyne Van Vlasselaer really existed: she was an ancestor of Beethoven.

You were just passing by. The city guards lead Josyne away, accused of witchcraft. What on earth could she have done to deserve that?

Your first decision changes the course of the adventure. Stand up for her, or join those pointing the finger? With strange things happening all over town, you might well hesitate.

The Alchemist BRUGES invites you to travel back in time, to the year of grace 1555. In the mysterious streets of Bruges, you witness the arrest of Josyne, a village woman accused of witchcraft. From the very first steps, your choices influence Josyne’s fate and the outcome of the investigation: will you help the accused, or will you join her detractors?

Armed with your adventurer's notebook, explore the city, question numerous witnesses, and analyze every clue you gather. Between medieval puzzles and historical truths, meet vibrant characters—bourgeois, judges, governors, or bishops—who will either guide you or lead you astray.

The story—inspired by real events—plunges you into the true case of Josyne Van Vlasselaer, an ancestor of the famous Beethoven, who was the victim of a witchcraft trial at the end of the 16th century. Through your deduction skills and your choices, you can rewrite the past and uncover the secrets of Bruges.
